Rick and Ali’s Halifax Hall Wedding

A couple of weeks ago on a beautiful spring day, Rick and Ali got married at Halifax Hall.

I’d been to the Halifax Hall before  back in November 2014 after hearing about it at a wedding fair I visited – I was curious as to there being a Halifax Hall in Sheffield! Last time there were leaves on the ground, this time there was a blanket of blossom petals! Since my visit they’d been busy renovating the hall and the new carpets, lighting and reception area really are lovely. As a photographer you really notice things like carpets and lighting!!!

They couldn’t have asked for a nicer day – warm and sunny, with only the odd shower which we didn’t even notice as it was during their meal – they were kind enough to feed me and I can confirm the chicken was delicious, and the staff were so lovely – really friendly and helpful.

Surrounded by fantastic friends and wonderful family, their day gave a nod to their love of nature with woodland-inspired favours and flowers, and a gorgeous cake with a couple of cute little birds on top.

Rick is also a fellow drummer, and his bandmates were there to share the day too, and thankfully Ali’s carrot-grating related finger incident had healed itself in time!

The funniest moment for me was definitely Ali’s mum trying to open a little bottle of champagne while they were getting ready, I would have helped her but I had a feeling there was a fantastic photo opportunity coming up – and I wasn’t wrong – you can probably tell what she said judging by her expression, as the cork went with an almighty bang into the ceiling!

Ali’s dad’s look of concentration while trying to pin his flowers to his jacket reminded me of my mum, who also sticks her tongue out when she concentrates, and he did get there in the end with a little help!

I loved the poem Rick’s dad read out – it was a lovely poem about penguins – how they were each others’, which was really touching and very special given their love of birds and nature. He ended the speech by giving them a lovely ornament of two penguins, which was a really thoughtful gift.

Later in the afternoon, a couple of bunnies made themselves comfortable on the lawn, perfect ending as I left them all to enjoy their evening reception.

Thank you guys for letting me be part of your special day, and keep up the drumming Rick!

“I just wanted to say thank you so much, again, for your brilliant work at our wedding. When I thought about how I wanted my wedding photos to look after Rick and I got engaged, I pretty much imagined what you have delivered! I couldn’t be happier with them and all our friends and family have been so complimentary! In addition to the final result lots of people commented on how friendly you were and how they loved how inobtrusive you were taking the photos. So thank you so much – you are the perfect wedding photographer as far as I’m concerned and I’ll definitely be recommending you to all my friends! We will treasure the memories you captured for the rest of our lives.”

“Everyone has been raving about how good the photos are, we’re over the moon with them!”

“The photos you produced are superb! I don’t know how you had the stamina to produce so many first rate images.

You not only captured a great deal of what happened that day, but you also gave all of us far more than we knew had taken place.

There are images that all who were there (and many who were not…) will treasure for a long time.”
