Alex and Jonathan, having lost touch in the past, found each other on Facebook, fell in love and had a wonderful Summer wedding at Wortley Hall.
Now I’ve met some pretty proud dads, but no sooner had I met Alex’s Dad (who was awaiting her arrival around the front of the hall) than he was singing her praises and telling me all about the amazing woman she is, and everything she’s been doing in her life.
Despite the overcast skies it was still pretty warm, and Jonathan is his dapper suit must have been wilting as he waited patiently for Alex to walk down the aisle to him. A lovely ceremony was followed by champagne in the gardens, where I noticed the bright cheerful colours they’d chosen for their flowers were a pretty close match to those in the garden, although Alex said it was purely by chance, I thought it was a lovely touch.
Soon enough, in typical British Summertime fashion, the heavens decided to open and everyone bid a hasty retreat back into the hall for the wedding breakfast. Thankfully it was only a passing shower and we managed to get some time outside in the grounds inbetween courses for some relaxed portraits of the newlyweds.
Bellies full of sticky toffee pudding, and the Mexican waves having settled down, it was time for the speeches. Featuring Jonathan’s best man who had brought Mandarin Ducks from South Korea, where he’d come back from especially for the big day.
Too soon it was time for me to leave the happy couple to enjoy the rest of their day and the BBQ they’d organised for later.
